CHAPTER 3:
THE PHYSICAL BODY
FEEDING / DIGESTION
From the moment of birth human beings know how to
take in food, digest it, and eliminate the byproducts. There are
circuits that involve secretion of digestive acids and enzymes,
as well as muscular circuits involved with swallowing,
moving food along the digestive pathway, and eliminating it.
All this is automatic and innate.
Disorganization in these systems can lead to symptoms
of hypo or hyperacidity, inability to breakdown and absorb
food and nutrients, constipation or diarrhea, gas and bloating.
Colic is one of the most common diagnoses given to infants
when digestive irritability is evident, but this is one of the
earliest signs of neural disorganization according to the N.O.T.
philosophy.
